Ingredients & Preparation instructions

Ingredients

  • 2 kgr Minced beef
  • 200gr Breadcrumbs
  • 2pcs Onion
  • 2pcs Tomato
  • 30gr White wine vinegar
  • 300gr Ouzo
  • 2pcs Egg
  • 1 bunch Fresh peppermint
  • 1 bunch Fresh parsley
  • Salt-pepper
  • 300gr Flour
  • 2kgr Fresh potatoes
  • 1lt Sunflower oil

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, place the ground beef and drizzle it with vinegar and ouzo.
  2. The vinegar and ouzo help break down the fibers in the meat, making the meatballs fluffier.
  3. Grate the onions directly over the meat to retain their juices in the mixture. Next, grate the tomato into the meat as well.
  4. dd the egg, toss in the herbs, and generously season with salt and pepper. Add the breadcrumbs to absorb any excess moisture.
  5. Knead the ground meat mixture thoroughly until it’s smooth, free of lumps, and well-fluffed. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes—the longer it rests, the more aromatic the meatballs will become.
  6. Shape the meatballs by dipping your hands in ouzo to prevent the mixture from sticking. Flatten them slightly between your palms
  7. If desired, coat the meatballs lightly in flour, shaking off any excess. Alternatively, for a lighter and crispier result, mix 100–200 grams of flour directly into the ground meat mixture, then shape and fry the meatballs without coating them in flour.
  8. Serve the meatballs with the fried potatoes, a refreshing yogurt herb dip, and a flavorful tomato sauce on the side. Enjoy!
  9. Peel and cut the potatoes, then fry them in oil until golden and crispy.
